I’m Dina Karim and I’m a new word press user (then again that depends when you read this…).
I am a multi-media journalist cloaking under the happy world of a junior reporter in a local paper, living and reporting in the leafy, quiet countryside of East Devon – quiet but bursting with corrupting news in every nook and cranny.
Just over a year ago I decided to throw caution to the wind, follow my dreams and embark on my very poorly paid and increasingly futureless career.
Newspaper rooms are no longer filled with the media barons, creaking typewriters and smoke-stained notes I so fell in love with as my future, instead the newsroom is increasingly becoming a room concentrated within a computer screen – digital.
This is not a rant but rather an explanation as to why I am here, if I am to survive in an increasingly digitalised, contracting world I must join the ranks and embrace the social networking of the web.
So, hopefully, this is the first step of many in joining in the daily revolution.
P.S. I also hope to let some steam off and rant, and learn new and wonderful things by networking.
