Is Twitter only for people with blackberrys, I-phones and G1 phones?

One of Twitter‘s goals is to keep you constantly updated on things happening around the world, whether it’s your friends latest escapade or the breaking news of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.
The Online Journalism Blog has an interesting post entitled What news did you first hear on Twitter?

Well, for me – none. I’m on Twitter, I keep it updated with daily mini-posts but I still haven’t had any breaking news even though I do follow The Guardian, The BBC and others.

So, I’m putting it all down to my lack of an internet-wired smartphone delivering as-it-happens pings straight to me, after all, I probably do check my phone more than the news and Twitter.
